"Come join Marcus Hawkins online"...

So I saw the full-page advert showing Marcus Hawkins and the message "Come join me online at Photoradar.com".

Really? Marcus hasn't posted since the 11th of May, and his last post before that was in March. In fact, Amy appears to be the only person on here interacting with anything nearing frequency, and she isn't even DC staff as far as I'm aware.

I'm sure that Geoff (who has about 3 posts to his name last time I checked) and Marcus and various other people write the articles that appear on the main pages now and then, but it's a real shame that the staff don't interact with their forum users more...

Marcus is not DCM staff, he is Editor of this site. I find online forums for magazines vary greatly in the interaction. Linux Format (also a Future publication) has many of the writers and editors in the forums all the time. Daily. I am not sure if that is mandated by the Editor in chief or just because they are all a bunch of geeks The point is, they find time to be online and produce a magazine.

Exactly - and isn't it a better site because of it?

I agree, it is a real shame that the staff don't have more to do with this site, maybe even a bit of support by voting on the weekly competition would be appreciated.

I think it is a pity as there are a lot of very enthusiatic people whom frequent these forums and surely by interacting with the forum members they will get a better idea of what people want to read...

Oh and if they used the site then they may understand our frustrations with some of the bugs and usability issues that people have reported.

For those that were here in the beginning you will remember there was a blog section for the magazine staff to post too. It did not last that long.

I'd imagine its pretty hard to be enthusiastic about the site when half the time nobody even bothers to comment on photo of the day or news articles that they post.

That's more a failing of the site than the user.

Like any forum, it's the involvement of the users that make it worthwhile... But, having the moderators and admin take note, participate and FIX THINGS keeps the users involved. One will not be worthwhile without the other and I believe this site is going into demise because of the lack of involvement from the Admin's.

High entropy springs to mind..

For me as Matt pointed out is the whole advert "Come join Marcus Hawkins online" falls over at the first hurdle when there is little evidence of him having been here.

I do find it frustrating though as this is a good site hamperred by annoying bugs and design for example the issue causing it to crash tablet PC's pointed out in another thread, lack of visibility of the Forum button wih some browsers, the clunkiness of the gallery etc.

The lack of presence or feedback leaves me to believe little or nothing is being done to maintain/develop a site that isn't that old.
