Personally,I don't think you can go wrong at the price... common sense will tell you how far to trust it. I use something very similar when I can't face carrying extra weight. You can often compensate for lack of stability by not extending the legs too far or simply not letting go with your hands...

I had a look at one in Aldi today, and really there didn't seem to be any rigidity to it. Not in the leg joints or in the leg sections. It will hold a camera off the ground. Whether it will hold it steady is another thing.

Like I say, not only do you need to be careful of stability, it's worth considering strong wind and even the occasional knock with an elbow...

You can get decent cheap tripods for £30-45, which will give more reassurance

I'm still considering a monopod instead, other than a decent head I don't suppose there's much else to consider is there? (that should work!)
