Pretty in pink

This photo is adjusted in picasa to lose the background - underexposed by 1 stop in original shot, then lightly cropped and tuned to increase shadow and highlights. Any tips for improving this shot? Oh, flower taken outside, mid morning, natural daylight.

Hi there I am very new to photography myself so please take my views with a very large pinch of salt ,but this shot looks rather flat to me , may be if you shoot it at more of an angle more edge on it might give it a better feel. Mark

Great shot but don't know why you shot at 1/1000s?
