Wink make imaje clearer

I've been asked to clean up a 40 year old instamatic picture, I photographed it in raw since i had no scanner, the client wants everything ''in focus'' so you can see the details of the persons face clearer than the original, any suggestions please, bear i nmind I'm using Elements six

Well 'clearer than the original' is technically impossible, and I'd argue that photographing a photo is never goin to give you the best start. If you can't scan it regardless, are you able to upload the photo so we can see what we're looking at? I know a few on here would relish the challenge...

Thanks for reply Matt, I've been asked by the client to keep the picture ''confidental'' for obviouse reasons! I shall continue playing around to see if I can ''by accident'' manage something. would scanning it help?

I had some WWII photos of my father in law in the Navy which I used for a memorial book when he died.

I photographed them & cleaned them up in Photoshop & they came out great.

I was quite staggered when I put some old and quite blurry shots (from an Instamatic) onto my (ordinary, domestic) scanner - I went for an 'Auto Correct' and that turned them into fresh, colourful shots, and sharper than they started!

Scanning should give you a better foundation to start from, sure.
