Which brand is most reliable

Which of these 5 brands do you prefer the most with regards to specs and reliability ?

Canon
Nikon
Olympus
Pentax
Sony

I haven't seen any real negative comment about any of these main brands. Perhaps if you stated your interests people may be able to give you more definitive answers.

They're all reliable as Steve says - Nikon and Canon just have the wider lens choices

They are all good. You tend to find that most people have a loyalty to a particular brand. For me it's Nikon so I'd recommend them. Others may recommend another brand.

if you look hard enough you will find problems that people have with all brands.

I don't suppose unless you are in the camera repair industry it would be easy to tell which is more reliable.

If I had a camera that went faulty how would I know whether it was because Canon were worse than Sony?

They are all terrible cameras. You'd be better off taking up golf... Just joking! Not a lot in any of them really. They are all born of the same components, just a different badge.

Might it not also be true, though, that - as with different makes of car - the less common brands can be a little more expensive when they need repairing? (There again, Nikon is hardly uncommon and, while I can't quote any right now, I've heard of a few nightmares with their repairs).
