I think that it is up to about 14mm Matt. However, as I say, I have got the holder set up with 2 slots for the square filters behind the ring but I think that if I took one of those slots out I would be fine down to 10mm. This is why I say that I want to buy another foundation kit as I want the two slots for my 10 stop and an ND Grad and I want the holder available to hold the polariser too. As the screws are quite small and fiddly Idon't really want to mess about changing the configuration around in the field.

If I get a chance later today, I will take one of the slots out and see what I get and let you know.

Just as a bit of a guide Matt, these were taken last weekend using the CP and the Big stopper with a spare slot between the two.

and this is a three pic hdr with the cp only but probably not at the best angle to the sun.

Really nice shots! I'm getting a blue cast on my test shots - I assume it will be easy to resolve in PP. My tests also showed the exposure chart to be useless - unless I'm missing something?

Matt,
ive been told that the exposure times vary, due to production the strength of the filters can range in stops, from about 9-11 stop, Lee suffer from this aswell, trust me matt, the blue cast is a lot better than the magenta i get on my 10 stop,
Hi tech did offer me the new one, but i dont have the money to do that,

Dan

The blue cast is easily adjustable. You can take a test shot with a piece of white card to use as a control pic. When you process the images in Camera RAW, click on select all, the use the white balance tool to set the white balance. This should pretty much cure the cast. If you haven't got a test shot, choose something white in the pic like a cloud or, in the case of the pics I posted, the white buildings half way down the pier and do the same.

You will probably need to work out exactly what the density of your filter is as Lee say it can be anything from about 9.3 to 10.7. THIS site was pointed out to me by the editor of one of the magazines.

Haven't forgotten about the other test but we will have visitors this afternoon and have been a bit busy tidying up this morning.

Thanks Steve, you've been a massive help with this

Hopefully I'll get a chance to take a few shots this weekend!

I did manage to get a shot with the filter holder adjusted to one slot plus the ring yesterday Matt. Oonly a quick one and not the most technically sound though but I think that you can see the effect.

http://www.photoradar.com/files/imag...sc-0001-1e.jpg

Set Up was Nikon D80, Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm, Hitech 2 stop ND grad and Hitech 105mm circular polariser. This was shot in RAW and I have made no adjustments other than to convert to jpeg.

As you can see, there is ever such a slight bit of vignetting but when the perspective is adjusted to straighten things up, that will disappear.

Hope that this helps.

That looks easily manageable to me Steve, thanks.

Do you have a slim polariser or normal one? It's looking like I'll be going with the circular holder option too.

Cheers

I have the 105mm polariser from Hitech Matt. It is anything but slim, coming in at about 10mm thick and sitting in the ring on the front of the Lee holder. It's a bl@@dy massive thing.

Just as an afterthought Matt, I thought that you might like to see the set up so I have just shot a couple of pics, one with the CP, Holder and 10 stop and one of the CP alone.
