Tynemouth Outside Pool

Back in the 70's this used to be an outside pool next to the sea at Tynemouth (North East England). It's been abandoned for over 30 years or so and is a living memory of the once thriving holiday industry here.

Can't decide on this one J.O.......You know I'm a fan of your photography, but think it looks a little too processed.

Lovely HDR shot, but unlike Chris, I don't think this is over-processed when compared to some other HDR shots that can be found on here. The clouds in the sky do have a high contrast, but there are no blown highlights or clipped shadows, so well done!

Agree with the other guys. Perhaps mask the Sky and reduce the processing on the foreground?

Lovely location though!

Great photo and it really takes me back. I used to live in Cramlington and then Whitley Bay, I could never work out why there was a pool so close to the sea.

I'm surprised it's still there really, I've noticed on Google maps that my old primary school (Park Junior) has gone, as has Spanish City.

As in the Dire Straits Tunnel of Love?

That's the one Phil.

From Wikipedia "The band Dire Straits immortalized the Spanish City in their 1980 song, "Tunnel of Love," and thereafter the song was played every morning when the park opened."

It looks like the Ballroom dome is still there, but everything else looks like it's gone :-( ah the memories.

What a shame, they described a real atmosphere in those lyrics - I think Mark Knopfler was from around that area?
