Product reviews

Why oh why, (oh why) was there only one camera and a bunch of printers in the kit section? If you don't do printing in A3 you had ONE camera to ponder over. My favourite part of the mag is always the new kit stuff.

Don't make me go back to the magazine shelf and see what else is available!

As a slight diversion from that Jim, some magazines are now involving readers with reviews of gear that they have recently purchased. Wonder if DC is going to jump on that bandwagon. I have been involved in two in different magazines.

I wouldn't be surprises if new cameras were scarce this month, given the disaster in Japan...

I think customer expectations have been high again, but perhaps in light of the economy and problems in Japan, maybe they have been a little over ambitious this time round. This is not to say that new gear is on the wane. In my opinion we are on the cusp of some more revolutionary stuff coming through in due course and that will excite not only the trade, but those of us who like to spend. I just hope our cheque books can equal those changes when they do finally show themselves.

Hi there
We often only do one camera review, as you're right, there's not always enough new stuff being released to do two a month. We only review SLRs and Compact System Cameras (hybrids) in the new look magazine, so that rather limits our choice. We do have the most scientific and in-depth camera tests of any monthly magazine though, so it's not just the subjective opinion of the reviewer, we back it up with science too.

Also this month our group test was on printers, as opposed to our regular themed group test of cameras

Anyway, watch out for next issue, onsale June 28th, as we are doing a huge Canon V Nikon SLR group test, plus a standalone review of the new Panasonic DMC G3

So a camera test blow out!

Rgds and thanks Geoff Harris, Editor

Thank you for taking the time to reply Geoff

I guess that the lack of the usual "bits and pieces" reviews (such as flash diffusers, tripods etc.) also added to the sparsity for that section, but hey, never mind.

I do look forward to this Canon v's Nikon section though - I do however hope Canon comes out tops as my wife will divorce me if I have to sell up the gear to switch allegiances 8-)
