Very nice Alf - I like the second one which gives just a hint of colour in the sunset.

What conversion process did you use to change to B&W?

I have noticed with Light Room that if you convert to B&W then add a graduated filter with a small amount of colour it seems to add the colour back in but just where the grad is... A bit strange

Phil
I converted it to B&W in ACR then processed it in CS4 this appeared when I did a levels adjustemnt of the sky but I thought it was too much for the clouds so painted a bit of grey into the mask to hold back the effect. I found it odd but was not unhappy with it or I would have redone the layer.
Edit
Looking again it may appear on the raw file coneversion just a bit darker.
