Love the colours in both shots. I think the first shot works much better than the second compositionally. I think in the second shot you either need to get the peninsula centred better or offset it from the centre to make it sweep in from the left towards the centre to create a diagonal to help lead peoples eyes into the shot.

Like the colours Dan - need to boost the contrast a bit though. You say they look ok on screen though? Wonder what happened there...

For the rocks - did you try from a bit to the right? Might look nicer with a bit less rock and more misty water...

For the Cobb shot, you might want to try stepping back a bit and using the curve of the Cobb to add a bit more compositional interest.

And well done for getting up so early!

Cheers
Andy

Thanks ian and andy, was hard work being that early, I did have the curve in the cob, but it didnt work, couldnt get the effect that i wanted,
and with the rocks i started to the right, but the rocks lead more inland towards some very distracting buildings and scaffolding, so that was the only angle it worked at really, and on that one,ive cloned out the buildings in the distance, i didnt lke them being there,

contast, it always seems to happen, look a bit muted when i up load on here, dont now why, just does, ill probly try it again in the week if i manage it, lol

dan,

Ignoring the colours Dan, this is a better composition I feel over the other shot. It just goes to show how moving your tripod a little in any direction can just change the angles and have such a positive influence on the end result. Someone once termed this as using your universal zoom and told me to use it more too!

yeah o
i agree, i really wish i hadnt moved, i always do it, rash descisions sometimes, but live and learn, the top two arent in order, the wall was first and the stones second, i ran round the harbour to get the rocky shot, so moving does work, but i shouldnt have moved from the one above..... still wonders of landscapes, it aint going nowhere so ill go again fri,
