Its a nice shot but it needs a contrast injection.

Start with a levels/curves adjustements of the rocks sea nd sky seperately then it needs some doging and burning as with most B&W.

I like the muted tones but would prefer a White Point - a shame the marker's sitting just under the horizon

hi dan
as Alf said needs a contrast boost and would be better either with the post either up in the sky line or removed completely

cheers guys, i new it needed something, ive had a quick go this morning with these, im not great with photoshop, as some of you will now, yeah i now the post would have been better in the skyline, i was as low as i could go without getting a proper soaking,

i prefer the first one, added various layer masks, brightened the white, looks a bit more contrasty, and added a vingette to see if that would work too,

thanks,

dan

Your revisions look better. Not to mention that submarine periscope sticking up in the first one, Royal Navy keeping an eye on you?
