The urban landscape shaped by demolition

The demolition of a local estate which consisted of 8 blocks of flats has really changed the landscape both visually and psychologically for people. More light, more noise and a community of thousands uprooted and re-housed elsewhere. I composed this shot to include the old street lamp and patch of pavement. I also liked the contrast of the landscape with the sky.

Another great shot with lovely colours and contrast Karen. A couple of suggestions if I may?

Have you tried desaturating the image slightly but masking out the container and the cable, to really emphasise the lovely reds in them?

Also; the branches on the right are a slight distraction, and easily cloned out.

I love the moody skies against the bright dusty concrete - it makes the scenes look cleaner somehow?!

A nice shot and the sky looks really good.

I agree with Matt but would also like to see the red container as the focus point with a might tighter crop.

I would also look at increasing the vibrance of the image and leave the saturation alone.

Thanks both for the feedback :-) I will give your ideas a go late on and post an edited shot.

I like the shot as is except for the lamp post! Can't see the top so don't know it's a lamp post, would have prefered the top showing or else no mention of it in your post. Otherwise, a cracking shot and love the sky.

Yeah I agree about the lampost now, originally I wanted to keep it in to show how the area was orignally residential etc.. My PS skills are not too great so I have no idea how to go about cloning it out!

Yes! But retaining the moody contrast of the clouds?

But I much preferred the original composition. Perhaps it's personal preference, but I just really liked it.
