Help, how to 'theme' a subject for an exam

Hi all, I would really appreciate some help please, I am presently completing at the local adult education centre, the City and Guilds Level 1 photography course image capture, my problem and it is a big one, is how to ' theme' my chosen subject, I am having to present 6 photos straight off the camera and I am so stuck on how to 'theme' them.

My choice of subject is either - fruit or Spring Flowers

And this is where I am stuck, any suggestions please on how to theme Fruit or Spring Flowers?

All ideas welcome and many thanks

With flowers or fruit think of colours like a rainbow, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. That would be the theme running through the pictures. You could use fruit like Apples, Pears, Plumbs, Peaches etcetc, as they all grow on trees therefore, trees could be the theme. Different fruits are used in drinks like wine, so wine could be the theme. Hope that helps and good luck.

As to choice of subject why not choose people? You could photograph people like a 20 year old, then 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 years old with a theme of decades, that is ten years between each person or decades as born in, so a 25 year old would have been born in the 1980's whilst a 37 year old would have been born in the 1970's.

What about cockney rhyming slang for the fruit?

Apples & pears, stairs
Strawberry tart, heart
Etc...

Quite a lot of themes in each subject.

Some fruit themes:
Hard fruit, soft fruit, green fruit, red fruit, jars of fruit preserves (apple chutney, lemon curd, strawberry jam, marmalade etc.), fruit I hate/I like, domestic fruit, exotic fruit,. Or think out of the box a little with bark or leaf shape of fruit trees, blossom of fruit trees (damson, cherry, apple, pear and currants are out at the moment).

Some spring flower themes:
The many colours of a particular flower (like the daffodil or primula/primrose), all yellow or white flowers, flowering bulbs, I wonder whether you could have spring flowering shrubs like forsythia, magnolia, viburnum, ceanothus etc. Again you don't have to take pictures of the flowers, it could be the leaf shape or texture that forms your theme.

Anyway, I hope this has given you an idea.

Regards

Nick
