Wonders of the Universe

I've just watched this on iPlayer (as I was away for the first episode). Did anybody watch it? Some of the photography (compositionally and content) was excellent....

Watched it all. Didn't agree with all he said but still found it very good to watch.

If you go onto the Hubble site there are loads of cracking photos of galaxies, stars and planets, some of which have had false colours applied to bring out the beauty of the universe.

Re Hubble pictures, we had a presentation of AV/photography recently at our club by a chap named Paul Keene which really caught the eye.

One in particular used Hubble and Nasa images in the latter half of the piece, set to a track from Tubular Bells if I remember correctly. He had used a 'split screen' adjustment to the images with remarkable results.

If you have 15 minutes to spare it's well worth a look.

The piece is called Ascension. Enjoy!

Our universe is such an amazing place isn't it. I liken it to the movement of a fine Swiss watch, but several trillion times more complex. It is such a shame that man is hell bent on destruction by sending debris into space and raping planet earth of all its true benefits out of greed.

Wow, been a while since I listened to any Mike Oldfield stuff, but really liked this. I also liked a lot of the original space rockers - Hawkwind, but it is a personal taste, not suitable for all - Hawkwind Documentary - try this, but mind the language....

I guess we are highly entropic - you can arrange us any way you wish, but we'll still be the same and eventually decay to nothing taking everything with us....

Very true Phil.

By the bye, that track is from Songs of a Distant Earth. I have all his Tubular Bells versions and his The Songs of a Distant Earth Album and Voyager Album. I'm a great fan of his and wish I could have been at his concert in London, but sadly couldn't make it.

Ah! Hawkwind, never listen to them but read quite a few books by Michael Moorcock.
