Quick start guide to Lightroom?

I just got Lightroom 3.3. Aside from the 190 or so page PDF manual, and good quick start guides to using it?

I found one called 'Adobe Photoshop LR3 - Streamlining your digital photography process', by Nat Coalson, by Wiley Publishing - but I didn't see it on Amazon UK, so I'd say your best bet could be the Scott Kelby one..."LR3 Book for Digital Photographers".

Pssst, I am a couple of hours away from you remember? I was hoping to not buy a book, just something to get me started. I do not find it intuitive to get started.

Odd when I searched here I did not find anything. I am also looking for something written, I do not like or learn well, from watching videos.

I went out to Chapters (large Canadian book store) this afternoon. The in store price was $20 more than the online price.

Oh, sorry.... I forgot - I haven't been on the Forum for a few weeks (holiday then illness).... forgot that you were my Ontario buddy!

I'd suggest YouTube could get you started, or maybe you have a college near you that teaches Lightroom in any of their short/evening courses, or a friend that's using it. I'm not actually getting on well with LR (which I got in December) because it runs so slowly on my computer - apparently version 3.3 is like that for everyone, unless they've got 'dual-core' and lots of RAM.

I got my book (the Nat Coalson one mentioned above) from Chapters but mainly because I got an educational discount, my Chapters card discount and also a $25 voucher for doing some judging last year. But you're right, Chapters is expensive.

I have taken some of the Henry's courses before but their Lightroom course runs at 3:30 weekdays on the days it is offered (at least at the Toronto location). I will look around more, I had not thought of a course, good idea.

3.3 runs on on my Mini, it is a Core 2 Duo so not bad. I would like an upgrade as overall it is slowish, but LR is not slower than anything else.

Happy to offer pointers if you need. I've recently taught myself LR3.3 64 Bit (runs fine on my quad core, but it's overclocked to 4GHz).

It's a fantastic app.
