Lens advice

hi all. i am not really new to photography but i am to digital though. i have a nikon d40x and am contemplating buying a zoom and wondered if anyone could suggest a make. Nikon ones a fairly expensive so was looking at a Tamron or Sigma 70 to 300 zoom what would you think of one of these???

The Nikon 70-300mm VR is an exceptional lens and cheap at the price and Dixons have it for £389.98 and includes free postage. If you can't stretch to that then Tamron do one for £134 with an AF motor which you require on your camera to auto-focus. Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di with AF Motor.

I completely agree with OB.

Avoid the Sigma cheap 300mm lenses - they always do very badly in the reviews. The 50-200 does better or get Tamron if you can't afford the Nikon one

Thanks guys. well i got the answer i wanted as i was looking at getting a Tamron as i think it is the next best lense to the Nikon one.
