Bought my Interfit two stand/umbrella system last week and am impressed for the price. I've been experimenting with my Camera triggering my 520ex and, like you, was looking for a second flash unit and couldn't bring myself to buy the 580 at such a price. But am wondering if the 430EX might not be as good as the Nissin?

Are you aware that you can group your falsh units and have them fire at different strengths?

I found this useful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKYDFHYZg3o
Funny enough a colleague of mine took delivery of the Nissin unit today at work and I got to have a play, I have to say I was impressed it is very intuative to use a lot more than my 580EX where I had to resort to the manual the other day I am a bloke we never read manuals

On the minus side the zooming of the flash head was quite noisy in comparison to the canon units which I guess could be a deal breaker for some people.

I was aware the units could be grouped and fired at different strengths but was not sure how to do it so the link is very handy thanks,

TBH I have got no further forward with testing the setup with the studio lights and a single flash so far
