Choices choices I got about 2 weeks before I take the plunge, I think I will take a trip to my local dealer in the morning to see how they feel in my hand.

That sounds like the best decision you've made so far, because this is very much a personal choice. Each camera has their respective merits, some which will be more applicable to you than any other photographer. So you have to decide which one ticks all the right boxes for you, just like you did when you chose your first camera and needless to say the next one and the one after that....and the one after that etc. etc.

Well I've spent the morning playing with all 3and the unexpected leader is now the 60d, the 7d is just too heavy for every day use, the 50d image quality has had a little too much criticism and I really like the multiple direction display screen of the 60d plus it feels really nice in my hand with my lenses attached. So from third place to first in one day, thanks for the advice Ian.

Stranger things have happened, so I wouldn't worry..., but it just goes to show the importance of physically trying them before you buy.

Incidentally, you mention that the 50D's image quality has had too much criticism levelled at it for your liking, but from who? If you're referring back to the reviews you'd read I would take that with a pinch of salt compared to the testimate by 50D owners who've pasted replies in your thread. As has been mentioned, the image quality is most effected by the quality of the lens on the front of the camera. Use a good lens and you'll get great image quality!

Ian is right .There's nothing wrong with 50 d image quality .It would sound as though the 60 d is right for you .I chose mine on what felt right in the hand .At the time I spent ages going through every camera in a similar price and feature bracket. The final decison was made when I picked it up .

It would appear the 60 d is right for you .

I would go back and see if somewhere will let you take one out for a bit .Put your lenses and a card in and finally give the images a good view at home .(independent shops will do this )I offered to leave a credit card and driving licence but they said don't worry we trust you and I had a couple of hours to go to locations I knew .

i agree with teh feel of the 60d. i recently upgraded from a 350d to a 60d and when ever i grab my 350 now it feels so alien and small in comparison. i guess the 60 just feels so right now.

It feels that Canon 60D is the one you really like. If you know yourself well enough to know what you realistically will do with a camera, and what the bare minimum requirements of a camera should you require than I think you made a fair decision.
