Black and White Portrait - ENTRY thread for weekend comp 4th-6th March 2011

I am active in a Flickr Leeds groups that put together low cost / free workshops / monthly talks/ exhibitions/ projects and the like and last night went to an excellent talk / exhibition given by Kentuckian photographer Michael Brohm. It featued some great portraits from his work over the last 10 years visiting a remote Russian city,Perm, that was listed no. 15 on nuclear target sites for the US during the cold war. He showed / discussed some superb images, mainly black and white, of old veterans and young Russinas today under the title of "Yesterday`s Enemies". Great stuff that made me realise I don`t do enough portrait work.
Thus the theme for this weekend's competition is 'Black and White Portrait'.

It does not have to be a posed family member - it could be a candid you capture in the street. You might get it with a long lens or you might engage with a stranger that catches your attention and co-operates - tell us the story in the chat thread ghere if it is the latter.
Once again, no editing restrictions here other than it must be black and white - so photoshop away, just give it your best shot!

Luckily for me i did a bit of a photo shoot for a local up and coming band. They needed some promo shots for facebook, myspace, etc... I was happy to oblige as it gives me a bit of experience.. I chose this individual (the bass player) for his look was a bit different to the rest of the band. I did a bit of work in photoshop and hey presto...!! Hope you like it and maybe vote for it..??
