Filter stacking

Hi

Can anyone tell me if stacking say two ND filters, Say ND2 + ND4 will give the same effect as a stand alone ND6? Does stacking these type of filters cause any problems to a final image?

Ta very much.

Hi,

Yes, I have stacked filters previously and a 1 stop and 2 stop will be equal to using a 3 stop filter on it's own and yes, the more filters that you stack, the more degradation of your images that you will get. Additionally, you may also get some vignetting.
