Hi Abers,

I'm not sure if you're confusing the numbers next to the images for the number of comments made. This number refers to the number of ratings made, and as many people are commenting without leaving a rating, at the moment this won't show up as a number next to the image.

We are fully aware that the captcha box is annoying, and we have now removed it for just this reason, we also looking to make improvements to the gallery system as we move forward.

Thanks,

Amy

Thumbs up

Good reply Amy

The many moaners who flit in and out of here from time to time must be getting rather peaved at the professional way you give them short shift with your prompt and very informative answers.

I for one am still prepared to wait on the promised improvements that are still to be made in the galleries - re adding a slideshow view facility and an easier way of posting images to them and indeed easier linking them to the forums - it all takes time to "move forward" - BUT keep in mind ANOTHER CHRISTMAS is rapidly approaching - and even my patience could run out.

So here is a sincere hope and wish that we will see these improvements in place soon and hence be able enjoy the galleries - after all - when all said and done - the site will stand or fall on a good flourishing gallery system.

Still a loyal - if somewhat a "long grey bearded" member.

Regards Gil

Thanks for the explanation and clarification Amy, it's rather confusing as to what figure relates to what. If the brackets indicate the number of times a star rating has been applied to the image, where do you show how many comments have been made?

I see Mr Ritchie's spelling has not improved. I'm not at all peeved. Perhaps he can come up with some ideas on how to improve the comment rate, perhaps by posting images other than holiday snaps!

Hi Gil,

Thanks for your message, I hope you understand that a major overhaul of a big feature like the galleries will take time for the design/tech team to come up with and integrate. It's for this reason that we can't promise any particular dates or times, or any specific improvements that will be made.

Thanks for your patience while we are still a new and developing site, please know that we are taking on board all of our members' thoughts and comments and hope to continue to provide something that everyone can get something from.

As always, anybody that has any queries or thoughts please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Best wishes,

Amy

I chose my words carefully - as I meant "peaved" and NOT "peeved" - as it is a euphemism for "pi ssed"- and thus seemed more appropriate.

See this link if you do not believe me - any good street photographer should be well aware of such "urban" language after all - should they not.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=peaved

And reference Mr Abercrombie's other point on "how to improve the comment rate" simple I would have thought - the expression PUT UP or SHUT UP comes to mind.

Anyway I will leave the experts to post " images" - good ,bad or indifferent - I will make do with my "holiday snaps" - Thank You very much.

Hi Abers,

I suppose the quickest way to browse which images have the most comments is by clicking on the "most commented" tab at the top of the gallery page.

Hopefully now that the captcha box has been removed this will be a big reason for more people to comment on the images.

As always, I'll let you know when any changes are made, and if you have any further thoughts do drop me a line.

Many thanks,

Amy

My Street Photography is done on the streets, not in the gutter, so I am not aware of such euphemisms I'm afraid.

You are now.

Even those that think they know all can be educated.
