1. A couple of observations about the ongoing dearth of comments on the galleries.A quick look this a.m. reveals 4 comments on the first 200 images, a meagre 2% response.

2. Page 4 shows that of the 50 images posted 43 (86%) were posted by just 4 photographers, one taking 27 (42%) and another 11(22%).

Could it be that 1 and 2 are linked?

Any news on how many individuals have contributed to the galleries yet Amy?

There are far to many photos to look at and not enough time to sit and look though them all.
I made some comments on shots I liked but think we should be limited to the amount you can have on your page, Say five then maybe it would give us an incentive to go out and improve the picture already uploaded.
Like art its all personal taste and I have found pictures with lots of comments and stars that are what I consider average, not that my work is tops far from it but we all have a particular subject that we are good at taking pictures of.

I have removed my photos as my work is too important to be copied. In the future i shall be only showcasing my rejected microstock images.
Can photoradar not add a watermark to the images uploaded to the gallery .

Haven't been looking at the gallries for some time, and it's disappointing to see that nobody is commenting still. Flicked through 10 pages of thumnails (500 images) and only two comments posted. 0.4% hit rate.

Are the powers that be taking steps to try and reverse the situation, only it's been like this right from the start.

Even the POTD seems hardly to motivate viewers to comment. Mind you its presentation is somewhat lacking. The recent image of two animals up a tree was spoiled by a pop-up hiding 3/4's of them when you looked. Very sloppy.

My tuppence worth: There is a lot of "noise" on the gallery, why ALL uploads are published is beyond me, I'd rather see a system whereby you upload to your own folder and then add shots to the gallery if you wish, maybe limiting gallery submissions to one per day??

The amount of noise PLUS the spambot thingy stops me commenting...

I think we all agree that someone needs to be done to "market" the galleries. I do not think I have had any viewing of my photos at all. We have the issue, what is the solution to get people to even view photos, never mind commenting on them! Getting rid of the captcha will help with comments, but people are just not looking.

Perhaps more than just the photo of the day, it is a series of photos. These could be randomly chosen, say 10 photos, but still keep an editor chosen "of the day" photo so as to not add more work for the staff.

My two cents.

A restriction on numbers uploaded per day/week has been discounted so they go merrily on their way in a complete state of disinterest. Still as long as the revenue from the advertisers keeps rolling in why should anybody worry about non-paying customers.

I have given up with this sites photo galleries, I had some much hope for it at the beginning. I have found a nice site with a lot of old dc mag users.
