it's difficult to advise you to do anything differently, Use two cameras if you've got them and different lenses, just stick to the wider apertures and fast shutter speeds for shallow depth of field concentrate attention on the subjects, stick to jpegs and shoot with the fastest burst speed you can as you never know exactly what will happen after the initial shot. Look at the pros stuff on cricinfo.
You don't need to break the bank, check out the old compatible manual focus lenses, I've used my pentax fit lenses for about 20 years.
