You could try it Andrew with a black background, remembering to get it all in frame and see what you think. In fact, you could take three different shots of it with both the black and the white infinity curves and put them together in a collage, pop art style. What do you think?

What about the exposure? Too much?

Andrew, the picture on the thread is so small, I can't really tell what the exposure is like. It looks ok from a distance and that's all I can say.

it looks good, but a black back might be better, the one youve shown is like a high key stock image, one companys may use for advertising, however a low key (darker) will show of the jug better i think, but have a play and see what works for you, youll find some work better high and some low,

Hope this is better.

Actually i think you have hit the nail on the head with your description. dan.

Going to get some pictures taken at the weekend using the pop art as a final thought. Now all i need is a sizeable black/white card

The black would provide a better contrast, but as I said if you take three shots of it, moving it round slightly each time to take it at a different angle and repeat the process with the other background colour. You should then have three high key and three low key images to combine into your pop art collage.

Right, i have been to staples today to buy something to double up as my infinity curve. A3 just wasnt cutting it.

So tonight i will have a play with these. I have been taking the pics in my conservatory under natural light. I take it this is the best way if you dont want to be using any lighting (I havent got anything other than the camera flash).

Lets see what happens then.

Yep, natural light is the best - but you can supplement it with some lamps if the bulbs aren't too yellow. I haven't got any lighting gear yet - check out my amazing home studio

Yes, that's a white sheet draped over my TV And a lamp on the side counter

And with 30 second's worth of tweaking settings:

And a quick crop:

Don't underestimate the power of basic lamps and stuff

Awesome work on the Becks pump - that's looking really good. I might have to pop over to Staples myself now.

And very funny on the little Stormtroopers You see how the light on those is yellow? If you adjust the white balance of the image, you should be able to cool the colours down a bit, and compensate for the yellow tinge
