60D, Anyone got one?

I think I've perhaps finally settled on buying a 60D so I'm looking for peoples opinions on the camera. How is it to live with, performance, etc. Are you happy with it? Is the fact that it doesn't take CF cards a problem? Do SD cards work as well as CF?
Any information will be gratefully received.
Cheers
Jonny

Why would this be a problem?!

I haven't got a clue why, but I read in a review that it might put some users off?!

Ah, OK.

The main reason it might put people off is if they're upgrading from a 40D or 50D they would have been using CF cards. If you're already using SD cards then it won't make a difference.

For the purists out there, there are differences between the card formats and CF is, in may ways, the superior format. But SD is cheaper and smaller so thats why it's the favourite.

Thanks! I don't suppose it's going to make a difference to an amateur like me.

I have a 60d!!! :-) It really is a fantastic camera, I can't recommend it enough. I had a Nikon D50 before and it truly beats it in every way. The articulating screen is fantastic and I don't think I could buy another DSLR that didn't have one. The size of the 60d is perfect and it feels well built. One of the main reasons I chose the 60d was the top lcd display, as I was used to using this type of screen for changing aperture ect.. on my nikon and knew how much I hated trawling though menus on the back lcd. I would say that the 60d is closer to the 7d in size and features. Apparently it uses the same low pass filter of the 7d too.

From what I have heard compact flash is faster, that is why most of the pro SLRs use it with there fast 7fps+ speed. I've never had any issue it feeling fast and to be honest it cant be that slow as it handles recording 1080p full hd video recording. One thing you must do though is buy a SD card that is either class 6 or 10 as these are the fastest and are needed when recording full HD video.

My honest opinion is to go to your local camera shop and try it out for yourself. I have found that a lot of the sales assistants in the shops have been quite anti the 60d.. I don't know why, because I think it is an excellent camera.

well this is good timing i used to won (actually still do) an EOS 350D and had been looking at a couple of upgrades one of which being a 60d

i was really torn between the 60 D and the 7D now if it was body only it would have been nno contest but i was looking to get a couple of lenses on top so really budget helped me decide on the 60d

i got my 60d
Tamron SP 70-300 mm
Canon 17-85 USM IS

i took the plunge today and i have to say i am very pleased with the 60D having had a little play with it. I moght regret not getting the 7d someday but right now i am happy that i have a decent mid range SLR with two very nice lenses for not to much more than the 7d.

that said i just bought a couple of 8 Gig CF (sandisk extremes) and sort of regret that now but hey ho.
