DSLR with SLR lenses

Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me? I have an old Nikon F100 SLR camera with several lenses and a flash gun. I am looking to purchase a DSLR but would like to use my old SLR lenses with it at the same time. The lenses and flash I have are;

Nikon ED AF Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 D
Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 D
Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 D Macro

Nikon Speedlight SB-28

I have looked on Nikon lens Compatibility sites and it suggests that the D90 would operate all 3 lenses. Would there be any great restrictions using the above lenses with the Nikon D90.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest restriction (if you want to call it that) with your lenses is that they will look longer on your D90. The 28-80 will be more like a short telephoto zoom (42-120 in the 35mm terms you're used to) on the D90. You might want to consider a DX format 'standard' zoom, like the 18-55 (which on the D90 is pretty much what you're used to with the 28-80 on the F100) or the 18-105. The 70-300 will work fine, and because the D90's sensor is a bit smaller than 35mm film it will bring your subjects closer. Similarly, the Sigma 105 Macro will fill the frame with the same subject at a bit greater distance, or with a smaller subject at the same distance.

The SB-28 won't give you TTL flash on any Digital Nikon. Because digital sensors are a lot different from film in the way they reflect light, there's a different system of TTL flash for Digital than there was for the film cameras. You can use your flash in manual and (if it has it) A or AA mode.

They will all work fine on a D90, jus tthe field of view is different.

They will all work with a D90 ( which fortunately is coming down in price) or a D200 if your budget is low.
