60D vs 600D

Hi.

So the new 600D has been announced to be arriving around March time but not I'm totally confused by it all.

I was going to buy the 60D until this announcment but then I've checked the spec details via the Canon website and they look almost identical.

Which do I go for when all i want to do is get the body only?

HHHHEEEELLLLPPPP!!!!

VS =D

I think the main differences you will find are that the 60D will be a better build, I believe the 60d uses a prism on the viewfinder rather than a mirror which should give a brighter view through the view finder, it supports more custom functions than the 60d and has a faster burst.

Another thing the 60d does have is a mode dial on the back which makes it quicker to operate in manual mode as you can control the aperture with that wheel and the shutter speed with the front wheel in other creative modes you can use it to control exposure compensation.

I guess it really depends on how much extra the 60d costs over a 600d and whether you can justify the extra cost and if you would use or hanker after the extras on the 60d.

Personally I would try both at a local camera shop and see which you prefer.

BTW is this your first DSLR or are you upgrading?

Just found this

Hi Dave.

Thanks for the posting, that's really helped me out loads!

I'm still all for the 60D now as I do think it will probably be better for me in the long run. This is my first upgrade since getting a 450D back in October 2009, so I think I'm due one. I know it's a big step up but it think it wil do me for what I'm hoping to do.

Had a look at the 60D in Jessops on Sunday and I really like the feel of it when i tried it out in the store, so i'm really thinking i don't need to see the 600D anymore.

Again, thank you spending the time to reply to me.

No problem,

As your upgrading from the 450D then IMO the 60D would be the most logical step up essentially the 60D is a prosumer camera so will have a few more refinements and a better build.

I was in a similar boat a few years back when I went from the 350D to a 40D which was a decision I never regretted and felt I got a better upgrade than going from the 350D to 400D.

Good luck and have fun.

As you can upgrading from 450D I think you should go with Canon 60D unless you want a camera with good video quality. Here you can see the difference Canon 60D vs Canon 600D

Another big thing the 60D has ove the 600D is the frame rate...its almost double on the 60D. Might be worth noting if you are looking at sports or nature pics etc

Either one though look cool and im envious
