Why Enter The w/e Comp ?

Why Enter the weekend comp ?

1) It's a way of finding out how good you are and how you can improve

2) It makes you think about the different ways to capture a subject

3)It makes you creative in deciding a subject

4) You get ideas from other members

5) You can get critique about your entry, good or bad

6) You take pictures of things that you would have never thought of

7) It makes you plan for a shoot

8) You build up a friendship between members

9) You learn how to handle failure as well as success

10) And above all you become a better photographer.

If you would like to add, feel free

I'd enter but the thing that puts me off is that if I actually won it. I am in college Mon-Fri full time and although I can get on the computers I'd hate to let people down if I couldnt get time to do the poll etc. Plus I'd be scared to death of not being able to set the threads and polls up properly. I suppose its the techical aspects of it all.

You above all Karen would be a great asset to the weekend comps Re: the poll If asked I would do it for you or there are others that would be willing to help you out so dont worry on that score.

Hope to see your entry next week then !

I did type a response to this a good while ago but the site timed out on me AGAIN and I can't remember what I said. I was something along the lines that I enter weekly/weekend comps on three sites and as such, it prompts me to continue taking photographs throughout the week. so in essence it teaches me:-

1. Discipline - I must take the pics.

2. Get outside your comfort zone - it encourages you to take pics that you may not ordinarily take.

I have been very remiss but then engagement a house move and new job have added to that .

Karen I won once and was afraid re the poll but it was not as bad as I thought and there's some good guides as how to sort it.

Mark, All of what you said, No: 9 especially. I think with any forum (and i am on quite a few varied ones) it is the friendship and banter that counts for a lot. Learing from someone that has "done it before" and the general pushing yourself to better things, hopefully.
Only been on hear since Christmas, was a close second on one occasion, then two zero's (looks like a third) and caused a controversy over picture posting dates, but i have enjoyed myself and am looking at things in a different light.

Actually cutter I'm in a similar position to Karen, where time is not easily found and the thought of stumbling away trying to get a poll organised let alone a subject causes me concern. I'm doubtful whether my efforts would ever take top spot, but when I got two votes before Christmas I took fright and thought when would I have time to do all this. I will have another go so long as I could get some support should a miracle happen.
Roberto.

There`s always been support there - by way of advice on how to do it yourself using the posts made or doing it for you if you get stuck / have no time. Someone always steps in so no excuse not to have a go

PS Mark - I`m sure I wrote on this thread in response to Denise`s(Stormsong) similar point. Please tell me you have double posted somewhere and I am not going mad!
