Video techniques don`t work

I have not looked in for a few weeks as I thought I would leave it ntil it was live after the testing stage flaws were sorted. I now find some of the same problems - key one today being that I can not get any of the technique videos to play. I know others said this in testing - has it not been resolved or am I the only one. tried in both compatability modes. Guess I`ll keep looking at Ephotozine for technique videos well presented.

Also looking in at the weekly competition thread why is no one looking at the issue of polls / posting to accommodate what was a popular element of the old site?

Jinky, do you have an adblocker running? If so, then the videos won't work.

Hi Jinky,

As Heavans has said, I think there's an Ad-Blocker preventing you watching PhotoRadar video content. Please let me know if this isn't the case.

There's a separate thread about the weekend comp.

Rach

Hi Rachael, I would really like to see some of the Videos but all I see are grey screens and spinny circles. have switched off my adblock for the site! yeah thanks for that, and disabled kaspersky banner ads as mentioned above. Still no video feed, can't help but think that your team of doozers in the back office should be doing something to remedy the situation rather than blame the user and the system security, after all I can get video feed from plenty of other sites without disabling my system protection.

perhaps a written entry on how a user can get the content to work should be available on the front page.

Regards

Andrew

Also thought I would wait fro the site to go live before trying the videos again!

Still no joy

Installed firefox and turned off the ad blocker
Still nothing

Very frustrating - it should not be rocket science to fix the problem - - like many other people videos from other sites work fine.

I agree with Dellyroo above.

I have never been able to get the videos working. Just a point though: I am also using Kapersky. I've turned off everything I dare but it makes no difference. Wonder if it is an incompatibility thing though?

Hi everyone,

Sorry you've been having problems viewing the videos - the majority of the users seem to be OK with the videos now, but we are constantly testing them ourselves using all the major browsers and operating systems. However with so many different combinations for us to try, and with only a limited number of machines available (for instance we don't have any Windows 7 machines here) this can sometimes be a little problematic.

There does seem to be one common denominator with those unable to view the videos does seem to be Kaspersky, but we'll try and see if we can find someone with this here that we can test it out on to try and work around the problem.

Meanwhile, please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. We are currently uploading a few of our videos to our YouTube channel which should be watchable by all.

Thanks,

Amy

Your efforts, as always are greatly appreciated Amy. Whilst I am one of those who happen to be using Kaspersky Internet Suite, it might be worth mentioning that I have been using this software for several years now and never experienced any problems watching the videos on the old DCM site. What's more, I've even managed to watch videos on this site after the early teething problems that you experienced and it has only been over the past few weeks that it has not been possible to do so.

With this in mind I doubt that Kaspersky is the underlying problem here but likely as not something that has been changed subsequent to the last change. This is also reinforced by the fact that even temporarily disabling Kaspersky doesn't allow the videos to play.

Yes I agree with Forseti. Initial problems a few months back were resolved by disabling the ad banner in Kaspersky but subsequently this failed to to make any difference and as Forseti says if you unwisely disable Kasperskythey still do not work.
