I have a 50mm and it not ideal for the house chasing kids you are better of with the 35mm. Its a struggle to shoot moving kids anything lower than f2.8 so then your just as well go for the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. If your looking at the 18-55mm. Its a really useful lens. You have a slight wideangle too for landscapes.
