Macros and close-up section?

As my comment on this could be lost in the Water Droplet thread I'm requesting that this be given serious consideration ie
"....there used to be a Macro and Close-up section in DCMag. Perhaps it's time for the forum management to create a section under the Special Interest Section?"
What do others think? Is there enough support for this? There was certainly a healthy level of interest in DCMag.

That sounds an excellent idea. I am not likely to submit anything for a long time but hopefully one day
In the mean time it would be very good to pick up tips from other, more experienced, photographers.

Thanks Kentlass, I think I'm in the same position as you. I'm fascinated by what I see others can do but it isn't always straightforward to catch up on their posts. That's you and me for now and a vague possibility that Cathus may join in also! (LOL)

I would welcome a specific macro forum, I have just started looking at macro work and it makes me drool in wonder at some of the pictures I see. To that end I asked my missus to get me a micro positioning plate, extension tubes and a reversing ring for christmas and have been playing with them since. One thing I have found is light can be a problem the closer you are to the subject so yesterday ordered myself a nikon close up system.

Hopefully Kentlass is right and some experienced macro people out there will join in and give us all pointers.

I am not an expert photographer but do make up for it in enthusiasm !

Well you're certainly correct about lighting, so flash is also something to look at.

This attached flower has just recently bloomed in my garden and is approx 6-8mm dia.

Two sigma guns +on-board flash.
