One of my granddaughter Chelsea took in the garden using just natural light and a sheet that happened to be on the washing line as a diffuser.

@ PolaroidSky - lovely portrait of a lovely model. Fantastically lit and works brilliantly in B&W

I've not much experience of portraits - what little I do have is usually candid shots so here are a couple of mine...

Great shot chris, this is not a crititizm but why the crop with so much room above his head ?

Erm, good question. I wasn't really sure what to do with the crop. It was a split second shot so I didn't get that much time to compose it in the viewfinder and as I tend to shoot with just the centre focus point (I find it easier and faster to focus lock and recompose rather than fiddling around with different AF points) I focused on his eye and took the shot.

That does mean that his head is basically dead centre. I've tried a square crop and it doesn't really work and I quite like the fact that he's sort of looking up into the frame. It's a tricky shot to crop around and leave it feeling comfortable!
