Cannot edit or delete photo's. (POTY2009)

I have already aired this on the POTY forum, but the problem started when the site was 'improved,' so it fits in the 'not happy with new site' category in this forum.

I have lost the 'edit' and 'delete' link that used to show up with the pictures in my portfololio. My first thought was that it might be a new strategy, but I have learned that others still have 'full power' over their submitted photo's.

I want this 'power' back!

Help!

Photographer of the Year edit/delete problems

Sorry to hear that you're having problems editing and deleting your photos.

Could you tell me what browser version and operating system you are using e.g. Internet Explorer 8, Windows Vista so that we can investigate.

Thanks,
Anthony.

Hi!

I'm using Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Vista Home Premium.

The disappearance of the links coincided with the recent change to the site. Just before that, I had made some changes to my portfolio.

Regards,

Reinardina.

Hello Reinardina,

I've just popped down to see our friends on http://www.officialwindowsmagazine.com/ and can't replicate this issue on Windows Vista using Internet Explorer 8.

When you're logged in could you go to your photo page and press Ctrl + F5 buttons on your keyboard? This should refresh the page. I hope this page is just cached (a copy of the page), and doing this should fetch a new copy.

Let me know how you get on. You should see the links in the column on the right-hand side of the photo page.

Anthony.

Anthony,

Tried Ctrl+F5 on my 'portfolio' page and on a page with a photo (while logged on) and even though the page refreshed, it did not bring back the links. Tried the portfolio page while not logged on, just in case, but that didn' work either.

Is it just me, or are there more 'victims'?

Regards,

Reinardina.

Don't you have the word [Edit] in orange next to the image name. If you click on the word (it's a link) then the delete option is at the bottom of the page.

No, I do not have either a delete or edit link.
Very strange.

Did some more experimenting. Have tried to get an old cached copy of the relevant pages via Google. No luck.

Then I opened a new account under the user name 'Hollandia' and uploaded one picture. Funnily enough, this photo comes with the 'Actions' (Delete or Edit) fully in tact!

(I will not keep this account and will delete it shortly. )

Looking forward to possible solutions!

Regards,

Reinardina.

Hmm.. sounds like it could be your browser caching that page as you can see the links with a new account. I'll drop you an email and we'll see if clearing your cache will fix it.

Ok, we're all sorted!

We had a problem which affected a small number of accounts that couldn't edit or delete photos on the Digital Camera Photographer of the Year website http://www.poty2009.com

Thanks to Reinardina and another POTY entrant, Carla, for some ad hoc testing we've been able to diagnose and enable the links for those accounts.

Did you know there are only 20 days and counting to get your entries in!
£10,000 available for the winner so if you've not already submitted your photos get cracking!
