No, mainly 1Ds. Is the shutter on the D3 that heavy in relation to it's body then that it induces camera shake over a long period of time?

If i have got the wrong manual, just ignore me.

Well there you go, I didn't know it did MLU. Makes your life easier DD.

If you have a camera that doesn't, it's worth knowing that the live view workaround will usually do it. The only cameras I know of whcih drop the mirror again in liveview are the older phase detect only liveview cameras. Any DSLR with contrast detect live view AF will effectively give you MLU.

Not true Olympus dont
The Olympus E-620 has vibration reduction which means the shutter is delayed after mirror raises

Sorry Alf, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Delaying the shutter after the mirror raises is mirror lock up. It's not an indefinite lock up which you get on some cameras, but it is mirror lock up.

Olympus call it "Anti-Shock" and it's discussed on page 102 of the manual. In fact, it's customisable - you can actually put in a range of between 1 and 30 seconds.

With regards to contrast detect AF in liveview and using that as a workaround for mirror lock up, the E-620 does that too. If you set the liveview AF mode to "imager AF" the camera raises the mirror to show you the live image on the LCD and uses contrast detect to focus and will take the picture without dropping the mirror again.
If you're in "AF sensor" mode the E-620 has to drop the mirror to focus using it's normal phase detect AF sensor and then lift it out the way again.
