Standard lens upgrade

Hi everyone,
My first post so please be gentle.I HAVE A Canon 450D which I,ve had since January 2010.
It came with the standard 18-55mm lens and I,ve since purchased the Canon 55-250mm lens.I am considering upgrading the standard lens to something like the Sigma 18-125 or if funds will allow maybe the Canon 18-125.I would be grateful for any advice you can give on these two lenses or maybe recommend another suitable alternative.Thanks in advance.

I'd got for an 18-50, you'll probably get a higher quality lens than an 18-125 as there are less elements to soften your image and you already have the 55-250 range covered, what's the point of overlapping 55-125 at the cost of less quality.

That is assuming you buy a reasonable 18-50 (I'd start by looking at a f2.8 lens, Sigma do a good one)

Many thanks for the reply Cathus.I see your point about already having the focal length covered with the 55-250 lens.I will probably go for the Sigma 18-50 lens as you suggest.The price isn,t too bad either!In one of my local shops it comes in at £180 which isn,t eye wateringly costly.

it's a great lens, it was my first upgrade from the kit lens with my old 20D
