I am still following the demolition of the flats and doing other projects. I've had no reply to my email about photographing on site though so it looks like I will have to continue to photograph over walls or through gaps. I never have problems sticking to projects and much prefer long-term projects to one day shoots anyway. How are yours coming along, Amy?

Karen
Send them another email and if no reply then send them another until you get an answer.

Yeah, I might do :-) I suppose there is no harm in being a bit pushy sometimes!

Hi Karen,

Really well - I'm still doing my Project 365, although I haven't updated the site in about a week - need to get on with that... but I've just started a new long-term project that has been going down really well with local people on the Cardiff Arcades (www.cardiffarcadesproject.com) - I've been really keen to shoot more portraits this year, but I've always struggled to find people to pose for me, so this is going to be a great opportunity to expand my skillset in this area.

You're right - it has been really great to really get stuck in to something long-term, one day shoots are fun, but a long-term project really sticks with you and you're always thinking about what you're going to shoot next - or at least I am.

Like Oldboy says, I'd email them a couple more times!

Amy

The Cardiff Arcade work is great. I've just been looking at it. It will give you a huge boost and will inspire othe projects too. The artists with their work is a great idea for the portraits you have done.

I am the same. I'm always wondering what to shoot next but also end up dreaming about it lol which is a problem as I am exhausted in the mornings! :-)
I am going to send off another email to the demolition company in a minute, so fingers crossed!

Karen

Some cracking shots on there Amy, so well done for asking people to take their photos. It's nice when they allow you to do the shots while they work - much more natural.

Hi all, I started a 365 Project at the beginning of the year - up to day 36 so far (see the photos on my blog)
I love it because its given me the motivation to go out and try something new every day.
All I need now is to upgrade my superzoom to a proper DSLR

Thankyou Oldboy, it's been a lot of fun - the people in the pictures so far actually volunteered themselves to me...

I'm doing a couple of shoots this weekend that I've pre-arranged, haven't yet had the courage to walk up to someone I haven't spoken to before and ask to photograph them there and then - I like to give them chance to be prepared!

I got an email back this morning from the local council after deciding to email them for permission as well the demolition company.
Anyway, they've said they are trying to arrange it so I can access the site with a council project manager so its looking up! :-) They said I need my own safety gear but I have the helmet, hi-viz vest and boots from doing the photography on a construction site last year.

I'm still working on my documentary/portrait series "Market town" and beginning two new series, one about a Avant garde theater group (Starting Monday) and one following the day to day of a local YMCA, one side of the series documentary and portrait, the other publicity shots for the organization to use (Starting Friday)... should be exciting

Good luck to everyone with their respective projects - I look forwards to following them all
