We now have a combo of sixteen admins and mods.
Just to clarify that the 16 admins/mods are made up of four forum members, technical development at Future, magazine editorial team members (so that they upload to various parts of the site) and the PR team. The regular PhotoRadar admins are Amy, Jeff and me - full details here. Hopefully, you feel we moderate with a light touch!

Well DD, you got a bit more than you bargained for there. Ask a simple question - get a complex answer.

Basil Fawlty famously said 'don't mention the war' but perhaps that should be 'don't mention the past' because inevitably you'll prompt all the old veterans into reminiscing about the days when beer was a shilling a pint and 'whatever happened to old wassisname?'. In the meantime your thread gets hijacked and all the forum newbies get sidelined.

There was no need for you to apologise for anything. What you unintentionally did was to reveal a bit more of the characters of the vets, so well done for that, and it's clear that there are some here who would relish the occasional verbal punch-up - but presumably not to the extreme of exiled GR's contributions. Perhaps someone could draw up some rules?

You could be right there, Sue. As I recall, Stan had several accounts at DCM to hide his brand of wit behind...

Too many moderators have probably derived from lessons learnt at the old DCM site. I admired Mick for hanging on with it for so long. It was quite easy to see why no one else wanted the job...

EDIT: Come come Mr Bump. You'll get old and crusty like wot we is one day...

The banter he has with those that comment on his images, and the fun he has 'making' images is worth a look.

In my opinion - an unequivocal yes. One can easily find posts that have either gone unanswered completely or where a resolution/conclusion hasn't been reached. In a lot of these cases it is my belief that this is a result of the OP not being able to easily locate, or remember, where the topic was first raised. We won't mention of course the threads (this one for example) which should in my view have been posted - if at all - in the 'Off-top discussion' category as this one (Photo Radar) was more intended to post question regarding the site etc.

...but, then, it does seem to have morphed into a discussion about the site...

Yes - beer at a shilling a pint? I'd have expected to get 2 tickets to the pictures, a fish supper and a tram ride home as well for a shilling!

I think hi-jacking always sounds a bit severe - many threads develop as contributors new and old make points. I'm not sure anything said so far would indicate people wanting a verbal punch-up but certainly all would welcome lively discussion, wouldn't they? As for GR ,was he exiled? Some of his comments (if it's the same person I'm thinking of) were rude ,occasionally offensive, but we are all adults and most would come to the defense of others if someone is going over the top. Rules? I hope not! Good taste and common sense are enough with drawing up a rule book.
