I was sat in a classroom full of 16 year old emos and goths when I did my first photography course, now that first day was scary lol.
Once you go once and enjoy it you'll be fine and wonder why on earth you never went earlier, give it a go! :-)

That sound fun! The other end of the age scale from the Club I went to last night, I suspect the average age to be 75! Quite a few women, which I must admit was a pleasant surprise. There was a guest speaker last night and I enjoyed the meeting. I appreciate that they allow 'visitors' to take as long as they like before they decide if they want to join or not.

Yikes! I hope not! I am still trying to read through the competition chat thread and I cannot understand half of what they are talking about never mind actually trying to set up threads polls etc!

I am looking forward to the critique as I know what I am not happy with re my entry. Very nervous about giving a critiques though as I have no experience or knowledge

I shall let you know how I feel about the club in a few weeks. I think you should give it a go though!

I think its great that you went along and I think your photography is good now and you will probably be brilliant as you learn more and more in the club. I really liked your cake shot, thought it was really good!

One of the added benefits are the half time tea & cakes ..... this weeks ginger cake was amazing

After investigation my nearest club holds meetings on a Tuesday night. It means it may be a few weeks before I can go along (damn work gets in the way again!) but I hope to attend soon. Fingers crossed and all that.

It's certainly a growing trend to join Camera Clubs..... as long as they've stopped being run by people who only want to talk about the latest Developers and Fixers. Once they get past that, and embrace digital fully (without actually forgetting film altogether) they can open their doors to so many people for whom a digital camera has become a way of life. My own club has doubled its membership (to around 80) in the last 18 months.

It seems there's a 'tipping point'.... when the people who have become powerful in a club (committees, chairpersons, 'executive', etc) either adapt to digital or move on, suddenly a camera club becomes relevant to the billions of people who have taken up digital photography (possibly starting with a camera-phone).
