When do you or should you

ever give up on a shot? For example in my user photo you'd find one called "The Barn." The story behind it was as I drove up to it on the other side of the rode I like the barn great deal. However, I was not fond of the shadow so I drove slowly by it until I was way past it. As I looked at the other side it was far worse so I turned around.

I still am not sure if I should have given up on the shot or not as that shadow seems to make the worst of the shot.

So is there a point where you just have to give up? More so if you know you will more than likely never go back for a second chance.

The great joy of landscape photography is not just about the landscape but how it is lit and the only real answer to this problem is to wait till the light is right or come back some other time when the contrast is not so great that the shadows dominate the scene you could try fill flash on small bulidings but its unlightly to work on big areas
I guess this also might be a candidate for HDR treatment but I've yet to try this myself.
But in the end only you know how badly you want the shot and how much time you are willing to put in to it.

Agree with the above comment. Landscapes should be lit well. People on the other hand... LOL.. Sometimes, you do have to give up on a shoot and cash in yer chips.

HDR? not sure what HDR is. Yeah I was thnking that this shot should have not even taken place. And there was no way to reshoot it as the place is over one hundred miles north of where I live.

I'm trying my hand at landscapes to get a little bit away from just taking shots of cars.
