Sigma SA300 - Sticky Rubber

Hi, I have dug my old Sigma SA300 out of the loft, and the good news is that it still works, the bad news is the rubber has become sticky.
It hasn't any visual signs of degrading, but would imagine that is why it has become sticky.
My question is, are there any things in the house that I could use to clean the sticky away?
Thanks.

It appears that once this process has started it will continue, the 'rubber' has started to leach out its plasticiser.

From what I've seen the best way is to treat it is with a dilute ammonia solution, but it looks as if you will have to do it often.

Good luck.
