Great stuff Tom! I think that's a really striking image now. The eye gets drawn in straight to the action.

One small thing; you cropped the right hand side of the pic, which makes it a little tight against the large boat - one of the main focal poiints.

It would work better if you 'cloned' out the small sail boat far right (lots of tutorials on cloning around if you're not sure how to do it), that way you'll leave the larger sail boat some breathing space at the edge of your pic.

Thanks Drew, the reason I didn't clone it out was because im currently working on my netbook, when I am able to use my pc again I will clone out the small boat you mentioned before :]

Regards

Tom

I like the cropped version, and think the right hand boat should go (there's a bit missing anyway).

Another option could be to go back to the original image, crop the top and bottom so it's more 'panoramic' format then up the saturation and contrast to pop the colours a bit. Would make a nice header to a web page..

Hi Tom, and thanks for your reply and comment on my images. The good news is working on skies is very simple and can be done straight onto a duplicate layer or by using layer masks. I seem to recall there being loads of tutorials on the net and in particular on Youtube that you can follow very easily. When I started with digital imaging 4 years ago I was determined to get the hang of post processing in the areas that interested me most, and still learn something new about it every day. Skies are one of those areas of interest for me and I work hard to get them looking how I want them to look, especially in print. I'm sure once you start to consider them more in the overall sculptor of an image you will also get excited about the way they can enhance your work. Good luck with it anyway. Your image is very nice by the way and I am sure all the good critique you have had will give you food for thought and improve your photographic journey.

Edit: Here's a Youtube tutorial to get you going. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL4RgH0vIZo

Thanks again Keith,

I agree with what your saying and will have a go at the tutorial. Hopefully, I can aspire to develope my skies like you do!

Regards

Tom

Cropped version looks good to me too, although I agree with Keith about the far right boat. Keep up the good work!
