Photoshop Layers

Hi,
Can you run another feature on using layers in photoshop? It's always beneficial.

LOL, not at all. I am a complete beginner and need all the help / information available!

Just goes to show how easy it is to be misunderstood when not having a face to face conversation

It seems that any time I look at the photo mags in a store, there is at least one, sometimes two, that have layers on the cover.

It is almost as common as seeing "abs" on the cover of Men's Health

That's because there is always somebody new to photography that needs to learn. I've been using photoshop for years and am still finding new things.

Many of the magazines give an overview of what can be done with layers and masks, but a good course could be run over several months.

Another magazine has been running a Digital Editing Skills Course for the last six months.

I guess there are lot's of books, magazines, video's, web pages etc. that demonstrate the methods so another feature may be overkill.

But it's good to have tuition from a publication you've grown to know and trust. There are tutorial web pages and videos all over the internet covering all manner of subjects, but the quality of content and presentation is sadly lacking in most.

Personal recommendation such as posted above is great as it helps to sort the wheat from the chaff. Just because it's been done by someone else before, doesn't mean it can't be done again, but better. It's also interesting watching some of the better tutorial examples as there are usually more than one way to achieve the same or similar outcome; sometimes the process of arriving at that outcome can be quite diverse. These new methods can then be applied by the pupil in other untapped areas.
