I thought that DCmag was an extension of the magazine, not a stand alone give away. It seems that the powers that be have sat up and taken note of the popularity of the old site and decided to get greedy. Why improve on a popular free site that shares its identity with a popular magazine if it aint going to improve revenue. Too many ad's for me, quirky feedback system and a messy gallery. Blah blah blah.

Oh dear me, I have signed up to this forum in the expectation of good things to come , but already I read threads of discontent

Hi Nikonian, I myself was an active member of the DCmag site for a number of years, until it lost it's way somewhat.. I patiently waited for the promises of an updated, more involved, faster site to appear... After watching many of the excellent regular members leave, I moved onto Flickr.. A wonderful site, professional, slick and many superb photographic members.. But, I still feel that the DCmag site when I first joined in 2006 was a much better, more friendly community of Photographers..
Saying when I left, that I would pop back after a while to see how things were going, and to catch up on the work of my favorite Photographers... I must agree with you, there still seems an awful lot of discontent present, stay in the wings a while I think....

Evening Leemo,

long time no speak, whatever happened to your bearded avatar?

Most of the old DCM regular forum members are now at www.cameracraniums.com I wouldn't say that it was a DCMag replacement, rather an alternative, lots of friendly banter and lots of friendly faces, heck, they even have a "joke of the day" thread.

A lot of old DCMag regulars are active on there as well as frequenting here, might be worth a look at some point, it's not perfect (I didn't actually say that Mick) but it is very friendly and you can legitimately turn the adds off if they annoy you.

Cheers, Peter.

Hi Peter, nice to see your still in the thick of it buddy... The avatar is a spur of the moment joining thing, It's kinda growing on me though.. Goatee's still there...

Just thought I'd have a look around and see what's what, catch up with my favorite Photographer's.. Wayne D, Oldboy, Brunomania, Manwithnoname, Andrew fuller, Duckprints, Graham Cormie, Zuzana, Tim (bootneck), redeye and yourself.. Not to mention many more, whose name's escape me at present...

Im going to see how things go for a while before I decide to upload any images..

Take care

Good morning all.
Pressed the shortcut on my toolbar for dcmag and arrived here. Not much time to explore as yet, but we'll see.
POTN it's not, but let's give it a fair run.
Still doesn't stretch to fit my widescreen monitor though!

Mike

Hi Helen.

If you are referring to the one from DCM it's gone, as they couldn't transfer over to here. Need to create a new gallery on here and upload photos.
