Which to buy

I looking to upgrade from my E-410 I bought it to see if I wanted to get back into photography since I sold my OM2SP.

I want IS and improved focusing mostly but better image quality would be nice.

I can afford a new E-620 but finding one isnt easy at the moment (you can get an E-5 or 450 easily) so I ended uop wondering about a second hand E-30.

What do people advise?

My advice would be to handle both cameras and see which you prefer. The E-620 is quite lightweight compared to the E-30 and not as chunky, which does mean when it's teamed up with a heavier pro quality lenses that it doesn't feel as well balanced in your hand. The E-30 being that bit heavier feels better with the heavier lenses. Of course, if you decide to go for the E-620, you could always buy the battery hand-grip to provide that bit of extra weight to even things up.

Overall though, the main thing to consider is which of these two cameras has it's buttons most ergonomically positioned for your hands. The menus are very similar for each camera, they both share the same sensor (which is a cracker) and they are both classed as more of an enthusiasts camera. The E-30 is little more advanced than the E-620, having more focus points etc., but not by much.

Ian has covered most of it.the biggest difference being weight and size. I would just add that E-30 viewfinder is better and you have two main control wheels, but saying that I have both models and change between them with no problem at all as they are similar in operation, but always take the E-620 if I want to travel light.
