Good stuff - much prefer the new rendition.

Have you done any Dodging and/or Burning with this image? Might be worth a go, especially if it works just applied to the boat to pop it out from the background. Or maybe even Burn the background selectively to achieve that result.

Love it!

Other tastes may differ of course, but for me that takes away the distracting cluttering in the yard around the boat.

It's right in your face and almost becomes an abstract. Great stuff.

Yes The fact that you took away a distracting background has worked . Although if it were me I would duplicate the picture, then on the underneath picture put a gussian blur on it of about 5 pix then go to the top pic and put a mask on it , then paint in black to bring back the blur from underneath with a soft brush and a low opacity and flow . That will work in the blur and leave the baot standing proud.

Just a thought, its only a 2min job

Now it's really starting to stand out!

That's a good suggestion from Cutter as well! As on the duplicate you could use a soft grey textured brush to darken the highlight to picture left, then the blur will help cover the fact.

Hmm, the the guassian blur would be interesting to see.

For me the boat gains 'support' from the remaining detritus beneath it now; it has become part of the image imo. I really like what Alf did with the 'scratch' effect eraser on the background. Blurring it would diminish this artistic effect and it runs the risk of isolating the boat so that it appears to 'float' incomprehensibly.

Of course, I could be totally wrong.

Alf, put me out of my misery?
