Canon Ixus 500 Problem

I have an old 5 megapixal Ixus which we find very useful for beachy and general interest snaps. It's light and slips in the pocket and has never missed a beat over the years until now.
Having taken some images in Australia in an average temperature of 30/35 degrees have noticed a very bad line of pink about a quarter of an inch across or in some cases really bad pink stain across the pics. I use an old cannon card fc-32mh with this camera.
Do cards corrupt in this way or could it be the sensor on the way out or even the heat affecting things?
Any thoughts guys? I will attempt to attach some examples to this thread

Without seeing an example it's nearly impossible to say, but have you taken anymore picutres with it in cooler temperatures? If not, then try taking some and look to see if the pink stains appear on these test shots. If they don't, then it's safe to say that it was just the heat effecting the cameras performance. If they are stained then you could have a fault with the camera, possibly brought on by shooting in temperatures that may exceed the cameras recommended operating temperatures.

Sounds like a sensor issue to be honest - that sort of thing is rarely caused by software.

Here's one and if you lok at the top you will see what looks like a freeze on the walls

Hmm, that is odd. It looks like something has slipped inside the camera and is partially obscuring the light path. The only thing you can check easily is if one of the little shutters that closes over the lens is sticking - that could easily cause this sort of problem.

If it's not a lens shutter, considering that it's a 6 year old camera I think it's time for a new one!

I guess you're right. Shame though, we've been through a lot that camera and me. You get attached don't you. I'm particularly fond of the eyepiece instead of the EV screen. Don't have that on my other compact.

Just noticed a similar issue with my daughters camera and it was the lens shutter wasn't opening and closing I blew around with a lens blower and gently nudged it up with a cotton bud after a few power on and off cycles, a bit more blowing and gentle teasing with a cotton bud it is now fine.

Worth a shot I think.
