Did you get photography kit for Christmas?

I got a Cokin P series ND-Grad kit. I was not expecting it, but my wife got it for me. I may switch it for a Z, because I really want a wide angle lens and it may give me vignetting.

So, did you get some good photography stuff for Christmas?

I got books from people :
Street Photography Now
The Photographer's Eye
Auto Focus:The Self-Portrait in Contemporary Photography
Ratcliffe Power Station - Michael Kenna
For Now - William Eggleston

I also got a 12mth subscription to Hotshoe magazine and a 12mth subcription to the British journal of photography.
Other than that I got flowerbomb by Victor and Rolf ( which I love) and the usual girly presents :-)

Karen

I'd asked the 'big man' to consider a Pentax 645d - I reckoned I would be on his 'Nice' list as I haven't (sigh) been 'Naughty' for several years now..... The only thing I found in my stocking that you could call vaguely photographic were three A4 picture frames. Hmmm.... are you thinking what I'm thinking?

I'd asked specifically for Amazon vouchers to buy a 10-20mm Sigma F4-5.6, so a voucher and some cash will go a little way towards contributing to that...

...although I am now going to be ungrateful about it to a certain extent in that I'd specifically asked the other half NOT to waste money and get my anything else, and she spent a fortune on a so-so jumper that would have added another £40 to the vouchers she got! My folks sent a cheque for both of us, which my other half then told my mum we were going to put towards a coffee table. The sis-in-law also got me a jessops voucher of unknown value (I'm guessing £20) that can only be spent in-store, which won't be enough to buy anything I'd want.

Serves me right really! May now have to have a rethink!

Got a set of Photix Strato triggers for strobist stuff ( 1 ttransmitter and 4 receivers with pass through TTL to work with my Nikon flashes where I want to) that I am unable to get out the box and even try yet after my op and also a cheap little Aldi graphics tabley and Itb hard drive to try and get my back up procedures in order. Got some cash too burning a hole that i`d lve to put towards a Nikon 24-70 but ony a tenth of what I need so not sure I dare. Mind you with that VAT rise coming in maybe should

I like to get down and dirty with my camera, always looking foreground interest! So the Gorilla Pod I got was perfect!

Thanks Santa.

Yes, the VAT rise is focusing the mind somewhat!!!

Less bah today, so maybe go to the Jessops sale and pick up a tripod instead... They do a nice carbon fibre number I believe which has had good reviews!

I got their carbon fibre tripod off hubby for christmas, was about £110 quid, but that was full price. There was a 5% voucher code I could have used but didn't find it till after he had bought it. Code is JESSOPS5 but think it was expiring 24th Dec. I use www.myvouchercodes.co.uk so it's worth taking a peep to see what's on offer. I'm new to photography so can't tell u if the tripod is good or bad, but it's better than the £9.99 Argos one I was using!

I got the following: -
1) Jessops "The Red Pod"
2) Jessops carbon fibre tripod
3) Velbon travel tripod
4) Poloroid mini photo printer (cute for doing birthday cards and stuff)
5) One of those sad canon lens mugs.....cool though, but sad!

Also got lots of non photography related gifts....The bottle of Bollinger is my fav after the camera stuff!!!

I will have no excuses now for blurred photos, unless I take them whilst drinking the Bollinger lol
