Keep on Trucking

High guys

Just thought I'd say hello and put a pic up for critique. Joined the site a few months ago but never had the time to post.

Merry Christmas to you all.

I like this shot Drew, great sky contrasting with the roadway and the colour of the trucks. Nice lead in with the trucks.

If I had any alterations to consider, it would be that it may benefit from a slightly tighter crop on the right hand side around the end of the fence as thos couple of small blocks do nothing for the image, and also down the left hand side to the left edge of the leading tyre.

Good capture though.

Thanks Steve

I'm pretty useful with Photoshop so removing the structures wouldn't have been an issue and bringing the left side frame further in is just a cropping issue. I'll try both your suggestions and see what they look like, but initially I must have tried every crop to see what I had - you know how it is.

I think I left the structures in the distance in to indicate that it was a construction site rather than trying to tidy it up completely.

Thanks. You inspired me to take out the original 'negative' and work it over again.

Hi Drew,

Those were just a few thoughts that crossed my mind. At the end of the day the pic will look different to everybody and there is never a right or wrong way to process any image.

Yes, I know, but I like to try and change my pictures when I think somebody has made a valid observation to see what I can learn. I generally find that:

a) I get to see a 'new' perspective, and,

b) I usually find a new/better way of manipulating the image in Photoshop.

As in this case I tried your edits but felt the original suited me better but did find a much quicker shortcut on PSE9 for a part of the work flow from the RAW image.

Happy New Year

Drew

No problem. I like to do the same. It's why we come on here. Hope that I haven't offended you with my comments as that was not my intention.

Happy New Year to you too.
