Resolution charts

Hi

You might have noticed that we have started to put resolution chart images up with camera tests. This was reported in the news here:

http://www.photoradar.com/news/story...est-to-reviews

As you can see here:

http://www.photoradar.com/reviews/pr...page=0%2C3

We show an enlarged central section that reveals the camera's ability to resolve horizontal detail in line widths per picture height (x100). The units may appear complicated, but the point is that the charts are directly comparable. Clicking on the image section also links to the full image.

I hope that in the future it will be possible to select images to compare, so you can exmine one camera's performance against anothers.

Do you like them or find them useful?

Angela

I'm sure it's all very interesting Angela and will prove a godsend to those of a technical bent and could provide hours of discussion for them.

Will it provide that extra edge when it comes to making a decision on a purchase or drive to distraction those that have already purchased a camera that shows a negative miniscule difference to another?

I have used a chart for many years now, finding them a real eye opener. I will post a shot for a certain lens for you to see the resolution. Using a lens test chart, this has to be set up exactly correct for example exact parallel or you may be scrapping a good lens.

The best method of viewing this chart is with a 100% enlarge
