Hi Bob,

I'm afraid at the moment, allowing users to post up to 30 images in an individual post is something we won't be able to offer. The reason that the forum doesn't allow it is to prevent flooding/spamming. We will look at whether this is something that can be changed in the future, but for the moment other higher priority fixes/changes are being looked at.

If you wanted to host the competition may I suggest creating your poll and then providing links to each of the entrants pics in the gallery to look at?

If you have any further queries please do let me know,

Amy

Hi Amy, I understand it could be abused but there was no evidence of that happening on the old site so far as I'm aware so don't understand why there is a reluctance on the new site.

Providing links is a way round it but not being able to see the entries one after the other would be a problem for some, we want the ability to scroll down the images without having to load a new page every time.

The other suggested option was for the organiser to load all of the images into their galley, they could then be viewed more easily, but that brings other concerns about having someone Else's images in your gallery.

I do appreciate that other fixes are more important, though I don't know of anything else that is wrong with the site. Would it not be possible to allow say a 20 limit and only the first 20 entrants will be admitted, this would add some urgency to get your image in, and if there are any problems with users spamming the limit could be undone and the offender barred for a period of time.

Bob

It doesn't need a fix, it's a function. They just need to go here.

Posting links is much to slow for viewing, as it would require to click on every link and then wait while each one loads. Not having a go at you Amy, but I thought this site was for photographers! It appears they where the last consideration when this site was created.

Hi Lurkalot,

As I said, the reason it's not currently allowed is to prevent spam and flooding, it's something we'll consider for the future but I don't want to make any promises that this will definitely be allowed, or indeed a timeframe, as we're working on other areas of the site right now.

Thanks,

Amy

Hi everyone,

We've decided to trial the capability of posting 30 images per post to allow you guys to get on with your competition, however we will keep an eye on this and if spamming/flooding does start to occur we'll have to reduce the number back down again - so be good ;-)

Enjoy!

Amy

Wow! what great surprise, is it to late to have one this week. I suggest as its the first one and we have no winner from last week, that its open, post any image you are pleased with, that you take over the weekend.

The usual rule that it has to have been taken on Saturday or Sunday in your time zone, what do you think, can we get the word out in time.

What's this about no winner from last week??!! I don't know, I could get offended you know...

Looks as though you've been busy sorting things out here Bob, so may I suggest you just go for it and set one up. The usual suspects (who have kept the 'DCM' comp going elsewhere for the last few months
) will no doubt me made aware via other places and hopefully new people will spot it and join in. Just needs to get re-established over here and I'm sure there'll be plenty of interest soon.

By the way, OT, but can anyone tell me whether the T&Cs have been clarified regarding Future's 'rights' to use uploaded photos?

Mark
